God says,” Son, life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.”
“Isn’t it what John Lennon said?” Aditya asks confusingly. “You kind of look like John Lennon, though. Change your specs, it’s not that cool, it makes you look like a geek, you can get a sexy one in Lawrence and Mayo.”
“Son, listen to me, don’t make any plan for future, which will disappoint you. Live for the moment.”
“No, not really making any big plan, I have a decent job; I am in love with sheela, the most beautiful girl I can ever meet in my life. Oh! Do you know I got this ring, I am proposing her on this Sunday.” He smiles.
“Son, your life is becoming a pattern. As soon as you find the pattern, you break it. Otherwise it gets boring.”
Aditya is worried, “What pattern?”
“You will know” God disappears inside a dazzling source of intense light, and with a magical but irritating sound.
“Ring, ring, ring….” Intense, irritating, noisy sound. Aditya jumps out of the bed, couldn’t understand where the sound is coming from. After staying perplexed for little moment he realizes, it’s the new ring tone of his mobile phone.
“Hello! Sweetheart, good morning” He lies down again in a relaxing mood.
“Adi, can we meet before you go to office?” Sheela asks with a cold and serious voice.
“We will anyway meet in the evening. Please I will get late for the office” He pleaded like a kid to her mother.
“Adi it’s serious, we need to talk, see you in an hour, you know the place.” She hangs up the phone.
Aditya lit a cigarette, and murmurs “well! that breaks the pattern”.
If you really love music and listen to music a lot, no matter what is happening with you, you keep on listening music in your ear, similar like background music in movies, and that fits in perfectly with the circumstances you are in. Aditya was walking down the streets towards his office with the old Bob Dylan classic “blowing in the wind” playing in his ear. He is calm, looking down to his feet, walking steadily. He asked himself “How many more steps to reach office?” Aditya loves his job; he works as an investment banker in a reputed Multi National Company. Office is the only place where he can forget this recent, still fresh catastrophic incident just happened (although he can’t believe it happened) in his life, and can submerge in his work. What just Sheela said to him was out of his extreme imagination. Everything was going smoothly towards a happy ending, a happy ending which happens to most of the people on the earth. You fall in love with the perfect woman, get married, settle down, have kids, and live happily ever after. The background song already changed to “black” by pearl jam, Aditya cried out “I know someday you will be a sun in somebody else’s sky. But why, why, why can’t it be, why can’t it be mine?”
